Doug Harris grew up working in his father’s business, HE&M Saw. He was tasked with just about every step in the manufacturing process; machining, welding, painting, and assembling to name a few. Following High school Doug enlisted in the US Army and after 2 years of service he attended San Jose State University, graduating with a degree in Industrial and Process Engineering in 1980.
Following college, Doug entered the workforce with a position in the semi-conductor industry but was convinced by his father to return to the company first as a Design Engineer and then in 1985 to a sales position as a Regional Sales Manager. He was promoted to National Sales Manager in 1989. In 2003 he was named President and in 2005 he was chosen to take over as CEO of the corporation.
Doug has always had a passion for cars, even at a young age. He has competed in SCCA racing events and has collected a few unique street and race cars and is active in several car clubs including a Jaguar Car Club, Alpha Car Club and a Kit Car Club.
Doug has appeared on several TV shows promoting HE&M Saw products and in 2019 appeared on Sam’s Garage along with his father starting the 1954 Hudson Hornet project. He continued with projects in 2020 and 2021 and in 2022 when he became an owner of Powerscope Productions along with Julie and Sam Mahdavi.
