Sam Mahdavi

Sam’s Garage TV host, Sam Mahdavi, founded Mahdavi Motorsports with his brother in 1999.  Today Sam owns a private shop where he masterminds his latest creations. While his shop may private Sam does does on projects on an individual basis.  Sam Mahdavi has been involved with motorsports long enough to have been part of the SEMA installers challenge 2004, two NDRA drag racing Championships, as well as many other NRDA podium appearances, and winner of the Speed Channel hit series “Pinks” in 2008. But that’s not all, Mahdavi Motorsports has provided more than 10 performance cars for the “Fast & Furious” movie series, appeared in “Fast 7” and was involved in the making of the hit movie ”Let’s Be Cops”.

Performance is a way of life...

Sam has always loved cars and began installing stereos as a teenager. This provided him with a foundation of knowledge in automotive electronics. His started his first job as a mechanic in 1997 and quickly started learning as much as possible. A fast learner, he completed his first engine swap in 1998. In 1999, Sam opened Mahdavi Motorsports with his brother. As the import craze was raging, he was busy building and tuning cars, and turning them out as fast as they came in. He soon got into building and tuning domestics and was known as the go-to shop for diagnostics, maintenance, and performance. Balancing his work while competing in four seasons of NDRA import drag racing, where he won a championship and set a few world records, created another level of learning under extreme conditions.

In 2009, Sam began co-hosting Sam’s Garage Radio Show with mentor, Sam Memmolo. For 11 years the duo diagnosed vehicle issues over the air and provided common sense repair instruction and advise. The pair started Sam’s Garage TV Show in 2016, and Sam Mahdavi became the solo host in 2017. He has enjoyed teaching and displaying proper techniques for diagnostics, repair and performance upgrades each week on Sam’s Garage. Sam also began hosting the Lokar Car Show in 2020 and loves visiting car shows across the country, highlighting vehicles and their owners.

Sam’s journey in the automotive industry has been extensive and he still loves learning and teaching everything automotive!
